MIS Implementation Projects involve much more than setting up software. Even before the software is purchased, the MIS system itself must be planned and designed and re-engineering studies might have to be done (depending on the scale). Pre- and post-implementation training have to be conducted; new operating policies and procedures and job descriptions have to be prepared. Preparing the design specifications and purchase contracts alone require specific expertise. Managing these complex and inter-related tasks can be overwhelming for any organization; even if the expertise to handle the individual tasks are present within the company, it might not be readily available to the project.
BSN provides full project management to ensure that MIS projects are delivered on time, within budget and in accordance with the customer’s requirements. BSN will work with the customer to determine the project goals (including delivery times), agree on the design specifications and decide on the mix of in-house and external expertise that will used, given the need to balance internal participation and sense of ownership, availability of internal managers and IT experts and the desire for fresh ideas from outside of the company. BSN will then formulate a complete project plan inclusive of a detailed description of how each aspect of the project will be managed and the responsibilities of the various parties involved, including the customer’s management. Once agreed upon, BSN will take full responsibility for executing the plan and ensuring that goals are met. Throughout the duration of the project, the BSN Project Management team will meet regularly with the customer’s management team to keep them abreast of progress and new developments. Interim reports will be provided for projects lasting longer than two months. A full report will be given at the end of the project with particular emphasis on any deviations from delivery times, design specifications, budget and expected outcomes in general.
