John is the founder and Chairman of BSN. He also serves in the capacity of Chief Executive Officer and Chief Technology Officer. Over the past six years, he has led and been directly involved in the planning and execution of most IT projects at BSN in his capacity as Chief Technology Officer and Lead Software Developer.
John possesses a Masters Degree in Business Administration with specialization in Management and Information Technology from Monash University in Australia and a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer and Electrical Engineering, with a specialization in Database Development, from the University of the West Indies, Trinidad.
Previous to BSN, John held a number of senior management positions, spanning a period of 11 years, at the Belize Electricity Ltd (BEL) in the areas of project management and control, production planning and operations, management information systems, strategic planning and budgeting, purchasing and inventory management, public relations, customer services and customer billing.
During his last 3 years at BEL, he spearheaded the implementation of the company's first ever Enterprise Resource Planning system (Management Information system), in conjunction with the re-engineering of BEL’s key business processes, including billing, cashiering, accounts receivable management, work management, inventory control, purchasing and service request processing.
John has been the lead developer for most ecommerce applications developed by BSN. He has led the development of a number of other internet software products including an online electronic-check software for the Provident Bank and Trust of Belize, an online offshore services procurement package, an online e-wallet software used to provide peer-to-peer money transfer services to customers, an online payment processing and management software and an online custom-built digital certification authority. Each of the above software products was developed using the latest in web technologies including state-of-the-art security technology and techniques to protect the clients and their customers.
Over the past 6 1/2 years, John has worked with and consequently developed substantial expertise in windows-based architecture and programming. He has deep knowledge and experience in the Visual Basic Programming Language (including VBScript), C# .NET, Javascript, XML (including WAP, WML, VoiceXML and various other xml technologies), Web Services, HTML, DHTML, SQL and Transact-SQL., as well as developing applications using Microsoft SQL Server databases (Enterprise Edition), Microsoft Indexing Service, PKI (Public Key Infrastructure) and Active Directory Systems, Microsoft Certificate Services and various other technologies. In spite of his strong preference for working with Microsoft tools and technologies, John has studied and worked with Java, and uses the J2EE (Java Enterprise Edition) architectural framework heavily in the design phase of his development work. He has also led the development on a number of integration projects, including integrating web sites with credit card processors, e-check processors, instant money transfer processors, logistics providers (Fedex) and other web applications.
John has also lectured in the Production/Operations Management course at the University College of Belize, a Marketing Management course at the University of the West Indies (UWI) and a Production/Operations Management course given under the EMBA Programme also being offered by UWI.
